Old G’s Super 2’s look to continue their attack on the league this week against Sheppey. The Old Boys will be hoping to go into the festive break with another win under their belts and their challenge for the top spot firmly in place. Currently sitting 2nd in the league they take on a Sheppey side that has had mixed fortunes this season but gave the old boys a great game in their last meeting.
Russell has put together a side that features some new faces as well as some returning old ones.

The number of different front row line ups this season is much higher than expected with Ross Coleman impressing club coach Andy Miller and keeping his space in the 1st XV and Stuart Coleman nursing injuries picked up from a busy season so far for him the 2’s are calling on Matt Caveney and usual 2nd row Martin Povey to give them a firm platform alongside captain Russell Allen. In the engine room the clubs 2nd tallest player, Andy Day, makes a return alongside new boy Dell Brown. Jordan Lynch retains his place on the flanks again and will partner up with Alex Buckley who will have his first run out of the season after being lured by the clubs “12 bars of Christmas” event. Andy Hinde will be making himself a nuisance at 8 while steering the pack.

Doug Wilson continues his run in the 2’s at scrum half and will be feeding ball to Will McArthur who has stepped up into the fly half position with Liam Cole unavailable. Will has shone so far in the centres this week and has a huge boot on him from his days playing less acceptable sports…
Steve “Mr T” Thompson will buddy up with Sam Snell in the centres, no that isn’t a typo… Sam Snell… in the centres…

Joe Wortham and Axel Elcome take up the wings and will both look to show off the continued improvements they have both made this season since joining the club. Everybody’s favourite fixture secretary, Dave Boyer, has decided that Christmas really is a time for giving and has made himself available to start at full back.

The replacements who will look to add their own mark on the game when given the chance are, Tom Morphew who will finally make his debut on the 2nd time of trying this season, Kayne Locker who has rediscovered his love for Rugby this year. Gav Bright has been practicing his skills while coaching the minis and has decided that he is ready again to take on people bigger than him. Also making a return to the action is RICKAAAAAAYYY Harding who took some time away to start his family.

With a great team on paper this shows all signs of being an exciting game with plenty of players who will be chomping at the bit to get their names on the scoreboard and put in the big defensive hits that will be needed to keep Sheppey at bay.

Kick off 2pm at HOME. As always all support is welcomed and appreciated, you will be in for a real treat! See you in the bar afterwards for the 3rd half and 12 bars of Christmas!
