The super 2’s are back in action a week after they took on and conquered local rivals Gravesend to take 2nd place in the league. This week they travel across to Canterbury in a clash that will firm up 2nd place for whoever comes out on top.
Captain Russell and crew had the unenviable task of putting together a team that would continue their good form from the start of the season. A task that they have certainly done well!
With Ross Coleman being rewarded for form and commitment to training by getting himself a run out with the 1st XV a new partner in crime was needed for Stu Coleman and Ben Randall in the front row. Answering the call is full time zebra, part time Old Boy Mike “Elvis” Murray, a regular with the Vets side Elvis is a great addition to the matchday squad. In the engine room is Tom Hammerton who this week has seduced Sam Snell in to cuddling up and getting close for the afternoon. Jordan Lynch once again retains his flanker shirt and will partner with Kane Lockyer who played in the centres last week. Andy Hinde takes up the 8 shirt with regular Darrell Conlan unavailable.
Doug Wilson continues to yo-yo between the 1s and 2s at 9 and this week will be giving service to Liam Cole who once again takes up the mantle of Fly half.
In a new centre partnership Mr T, fresh off his latest holiday, finds himself alongside Will McArthur who has hung up his managers jumper after only one game and making a return to playing. The passing game will be key this week with two powerhouses on the wings in the shape of Mat “Rhino” Wilson and Mark Bishop who is getting a run out for the first time this season after missing most of last year with injury and countless holidays himself. Tyler Poulson will make the long journey from his Uni Dorm in Canterbury down to the game to take up the full back shirt with Jamie Edwards struggling to get his face fungus correct once again.
The bench consists of Jon Whitfield who played gallantly put his hand up to play for the oppo last week, Axel Elcome who will be fresh just a few hours after landing from a lengthy trip round America and Dan Brinley who is new to the club. A special mention goes out to Harry Ballantyne who is unfortunately unavailable this week but would want to be mentioned...
Best of luck to everyone playing, bring back the W before a week off for Octoberfest! See you all back at ours for the 3rd Half!
