It’s Blue and Blue Day at Old Gravesendians on Saturday, with Cranbrook the visitors for the headline fixture of the day. Amongst the festivities of entertainment, minis rugby and fun for the family there is an important Kent 1 game on the field, with two evenly matched sides likely to serve up a treat of a contest.
Earlier in the season Old Gs came away with a tense 3 point victory in the reverse fixture in an outstanding spectacle of Kent 1 rugby, with both sides contributing to an entertaining display of running rugby. This fixture will no doubt be equally as tight with Cranbrook looking a bit a revenge and put a dampener on proceedings. Known for their energy, powerful ball carriers and creativity in the backline Cranbrook will pose a stern test to the home side, with Old Gs knowing that they need to hit top gear if they are to produce the result that a large crowd will no doubt be hoping for.
In regards to selection Old Gs are still decimated by injury, with over 15 squad members unavailable for selection. They still put out a strong side for the game. Steve Jarrett, Matt Johnson and Ross Coleman start in the front row. Skipper Frazer Barnes and Joe Martin are in the second row. Andrew Kidd, Chris Daniels and Chris Bassett form the back row.
Doug Wilson and Mike Hodge continue as half backs, with Matt Thompson and Grant Roe again forming the centre partnership. The back 3 consists of wingers Martyn Langley and Steve Thompson, supported by full back Chris Johnson.
The replacements are Jordan Lynch and Dave Boyer.
Kick off is a 3pm with the blue and blue entertainment starting at 1pm. So get down and support the Old Boys!
