Old Gs welcome HSBC to North Kent on Saturday as the Kent 1 season continues. After a solid win away at RBS last week Old Gs will have to be on the money and make a good account of themselves against a second bank side in a row in order to cash in another victory. Rumours of a friendly against the Halifax or Santander in the off week next week are unfounded.
However, with HSBC having a similar record to Old Gs, with 5 league wins from 7 fixtures, the contest will be a tight one as the home aide look to keep the pressure on the top 2.
Known for their strong, organised pack and direct runners out wide HSBC, a bit of a bogey team for Old Gs in recent years, will be one of the toughest tests that the side have faced so far. However if Old Gs continue the promising form that they have shown this season then there will be confidence of a victory that will get another winning run going.
In terms of selection Old Gs welcome back a few faces, with Frazer Barnes. Andrew Kidd, Mike Hodge and Grant Roe making a return to the squad.
Up front Paul Mitchell and Brett Buckingham are the props where they form an Andrew Kidd hooker sandwich. Skipper Barnes comes back into the engine room to partner big bad Joe Martin. With both Sam Baker and Jack Nash out injured, Andy Morris slides into the 8 shirt. Ash Bourne will provide his usual destructive nature from 6, with the bird man Chris Daniels at 7.
Grant Roe returns from injury to play at scrum half, with Matt Holdstock in the 10 shirt. Ben Wadsworth and Matt Thompson once again combine as the centre pairing. With Chris Johnson returning to full back after his dabble in the back row last week, James Hood shifts to the wing, with the gazelle Martin Langley retaining the other wingers spot.
Ross Coleman, Mike Hodge and Ryan Lockyer are the replacements.
Note - with the clocks going back having reduced the daylight hours the game kicks off at 2:30pm! All support is welcome as always!
