Old Gs are back in action after two weeks off with a trip to Ashford. Following a scheduled rest week on 24th Feb and the postponement of the home fixture vs Kings last week, Old Gs have managed to get a few players back to fitness, with five players returning to the matchday squad.
The face a tough test however against a resurgent Ashford side, who have overcome injury concerns of their own to put together a good run of results in Kent 1. The return fixture earlier in the season was a tough battle, with Ashford eventually coming out on top. However, with Old Gs playing the majority of the contest with 14 men and having moments in the game that they controlled, they will be confident of a positive result if they put in a good performance.
In regards to selection, Brett Buckingham, Noel Hartley and Lewis Moss start up front, with skipper Frazer Barnes relationship with Joe Martin blossoming in the 2nd row. Andy Morris, spurned once again by long time engine room partner Barnes, makes do in the 'friend zone' at blindside flanker having come through the messy second row divorce. Phil Costley returns to the 7 shirt, withthe barrel Jack Nash at 8.
Doug Wilson and Matt Holdstock start at 9 and 10. It is all change in the centres as Pat Foreman and Matt Thompson both return to action following injury layoffs. James Hood, Ryan Lockyer and Chris Johnson form a lively back 3.
Andy Kidd will make his first appearance of 2018 in a welcome return to the bench, where he is joined by prop Paul Mitchell and the rhino Matt Wilson.
