With three fixtures remaining, Old Gs continue the Kent 1 league action on Saturday as they welcome HSBC to North Kent. With a VP pre match lunch also planned there will no doubt be a good crowd down at the club to watch what is normally an entertaining fixture between two well matched sides.
In the game earlier in the season HSBC came flying out the blocks to take an early lead, leaving Old Gs with too much to do in the 2nd half despite a valiant comeback that fell just short. Old Gs will be looking to make amends on Saturday and back up the good performance that was produced against Kings last week.
As is customary with Old Gs season there are multiple changes to the squad from last week. Brett Buckingham and Paul Mitchell are again the props, with Noel Hartley returning at hooker. Loves young dream of Frazer Barnes and Joe Martin pack down for a nice cuddle in the 2nd row. Kevin Spain returns to replace Phil Costley in the back row, where he is joined by Andy Kidd and number 8 Jack Nash.
Richard Parish appears at scrum half where he partners Matt Holdstock at fly half. With Ben Wadsworth unavailable, Matt Thompson moves to inside centre, with Greg Humphreys making a welcome return from injury in the 13 shirt. The back three, excellent in recent weeks, remains unchanged, with Ryan Lockyer and James Hood on the wings and Chris Johnson in the 15 shirt.
The repalcements are JJ Keevey, Steve Thompson and Andy Morris, who looks on enviously from the bench at the second row pairing - wondering what might have been following the break up of his long term engine room relationship with skipper Barnes.
NOTE - Kick off is at 2:45pm rather than the previosuly advertised time!
