Old Gs have their first home fixture of the league campaign this Saturday as they welcome Beccehamian to Bronte View. With both sides getting their seasons off to good starts last week against tough opposition the contest should be an entertaining affair to watch as they both look to continue a winning run of form. Whilst this is the first league fixture between the sides for two seasons they did face each other last year in the Kent Vase semi final - with Beccs coming away deserved as they ended up winning the final lifting the trophy.
Old Gs put out a strong side for the fixture, despite a number of injuries and unavailabilities that are currently cursing the squad. Brett Buckingham and Eric Roye are the props. Andy Kidd steps into hooker, replacing the unfortunate Matt Johnson who suffered a serious shoulder injury at Cranbrrok that is likely to see him miss the majority of the season. Frazer Barnes and Andy Morris are the Posh and Becks of the Old Gs 2nd row, with Phil Costley and Kevin Spain in the back row. Jack Nash makes a welcome return at number 8 after shoulder trouble.
Chris Bassett, will look to continue his good form at scrum half. Dave Boyer steps into the 10 shirt, with Mike Hodge again at 12. Chris Johnson steps up to 13 from full back, where he replaces the injured Matt Thompson. The back 3 consists of James Hood and Ryan Lockyer, both try scorers last week, and the lively Jamie Potter.
The repalcements are Tom Hammerton, Steve Thompson and a return from injury for big bad real Steve Hurdle.
Kick off is at 3pm and all support is welcome!
Players not considered for selection this week due to injury and unavailability include:
Lewis Moss, Noel Hartley, Paul Mitchell, Matt Johnson, Laurence Coleman, Joe Martin, Mat Coomber, Chris Daniels, Greg Humphreys, Matt Holdstock, Pat Foreman, Matt Thompson, Richard Parish and Matt Wilson. Updates will be provided on these players next week - with many hopefully close to returning to playing action in the near future.
