Sidcup 29 Old Gs 41

Old Gs eventually came out on top in a tipsy turvy game at Sidcup. Tries from Danny Snaith x2, Phil Costley, Luke Thompson, Mike Rayfield and Charlie Knight were enough to secure the victory in a game where Old Gs led 17-0, only to fall 17-24 behind in an end to end contest.

Old Gs started strongly and their control saw them lead 17-0 after tries from Danny Snaith and an individual effort from Luke Thompson. Both were converted by Matt Holdstock who also added a penalty to extend the lead.

Indiscipline though saw Old Gs down to thirteen men, with yellow cards for Snaith and Grant Roe thwarting their progress. Sidcup took full advantage of 15 vs 13 - crossing for 4 tries either side of the interval to lead 24-17.

Back to a full cohort Old Gs roared back into the game with tries from Snaith, Rayfield and Costley getting them back into the lead - and backs and forward began to combine to excellent effect.

A solid finish from Charlie Knight after excellent Old Gs phase play saw the lead out to 41-24 - with a late consolation effort from Sidcup out wide seeing the final score as Old Gs 41 Sidcup 29.

The only downside to the game was a nasty broken ankle for scrum half Luke Thompson, that will see the influential Old Gs playmaker face a hefty spell in the sidelines.

The win makes it 6 league victories in a row for Old Gs, the form side in the table as they head into the festive break. They return in the New Year with a home fixture vs Medway
